Meet the Team
Elizabeth Joy
Founder
Elizabeth created Conscious Life & Style once she recognized that her love of fashion was at odds with her passion for sustainability and values for social justice and human rights. Today, she is dedicated to advocating for a fairer future for fashion that can have a positive impact on people and the place that we all call home: Mother Earth. Elizabeth also manages the Conscious Fashion Collective platform focused on spotlighting changemaking brands, creatives, and ideas in the sustainable fashion space.
Stella Hertantyo
Contributing Writer
Stella Hertantyo is a slow fashion and slow living enthusiast based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Stella finds solace in words as a medium for sharing ideas and encouraging a cultural shift that welcomes systems change and deepens our collective connection to the world around us. She is passionate about encouraging an approach to sustainability, and social and environmental justice, that is inclusive, intersectional, accessible, and fun.
Stella holds a B.A. Multimedia Journalism from the University of Cape Town, and a PGDip in Sustainable Development from the Sustainability Institute. She currently works as a writer, editor, and social media manager. When she is not in front of her laptop, a dip in the ocean, or a walk in the mountains, are the two things that bring her the most peace.

Where We Are
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
We are a digital media business with team members around the world! But the “headquarters” (aka Elizabeth’s apartment) operates from the traditional unceded homelands of the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi. This area is also the ancestral homeland of the Hoocąk (Winnebago/Ho’Chunk), Jiwere (Otoe), Nutachi (Missouria), and Baxoje (Iowas); Kiash Matchitiwuk (Menominee); Meshkwahkîha (Meskwaki); Asâkîwaki (Sauk); Myaamiaki (Miami), Waayaahtanwaki (Wea), and Peeyankihšiaki (Piankashaw); Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo); Inoka (Illini Confederacy).
Presently, this area is known as Chicago, Illinois. Both Chicago and Illinois are words coming from the Algonquin language. Chicago originated from the word shikaakwa, meaning “wild onion” and Illinois originated from the word Illiniwek, meaning “the people”.
